Lake Powhatan offers a fantastic location near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with well-maintained, private campsites and friendly staff. Campers appreciate the beautiful, serene environment and the variety of outdoor activities available, including hiking and biking trails. While some noted issues with the swimming area and occasional noise disturbances, overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

We took our grandchildren camping and loved that they could swim in the lake, bike and hike around the campground!

Well kept campground. Showers and bathrooms are kept clean. Plenty of activities nearby. Site 004 on Big John Loop is a bit snug,, but level and secluded from the other sites.

We had so much fun! The spot was mostly in the shade and sort of tucked into the woods.

Great campground and site, but the weather got an F! We left a day early as it was torrential downpours the first two days, but can’t fix mother nature’s way. We’ll be back, love the campground and area, having full service hookups was awesome!

We brought our six-year-old sons, and they had a blast. They loved the beach. We enjoyed the trails. We did see a bear 3 times in the 4 days we were there. I think it was probably the same bear each time. Be sure to keep your food in the provided bear boxes.
