Lake Powhatan offers a fantastic location near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with well-maintained, private campsites and friendly staff. Campers appreciate the beautiful, serene environment and the variety of outdoor activities available, including hiking and biking trails. While some noted issues with the swimming area and occasional noise disturbances, overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

We saw several bears at our site and they were all respectful of our camp

Campsite 9 is spacious and a short distance to the bath house. Water spigot is close too. One bar of AT&T cell service. Asheville is near by for groceries, gas and restaurants.

Great site. Very disappointed about the unannounced lightning storm, please tell storms to be more respectful in the future.

Friendly ranger at check-in. Loved walking the trails around the placid and picturesque lake in the early morning. We left before it was warm enough to swim but i am sure it would have been lovely. Only complaint was that the bundle of wood we paid $10 for at the ranger station was wet. Our campfire sputtered and smoked, until we finally gave up, leaving much of the wood unused.

Ticks. The shower and bathroom was covered in them. The staff wouldn’t confirm exactly what was in the stalls but also wouldn’t discount the notion that they were ticks. Once they made their way into our tent, we were done for the night. We didn’t even fulfill our last night that we paid for. Other than that major issue, everything else was fine.

Our first time on this camp site and we love the place but the access to the restroom is not as convenient you have to walk all the way around or make a short cut through the wood which is we don’t feel safe during night time and so we sometimes cut through our neighbors

I usually visit about 1-2 times a year. As I get older, aging family and work obligations...I SO wish Internet options were better. There were times I had no service. At times I could text.
I don't know if there would be any option, but I left a couple days early due to family illness.

The camp staff were excellent. The bathrooms were clean. Our site was level. The on-site trail system was absolutely wonderful! The whole place had a friendly, relaxed feel to it that we loved. The lack of phone service was tricky at times.
