The Find Outdoors personnel are fantastic. Roger and Diane really care about your experience. The bathrooms are very clean. Trailhead to Mt. Mitchell at the campground which was great for an early start. Plenty of nice 2-5 mile walks right at the campground.

Black Mountain Campground was beautiful and a great experience! The camp sites are a nice size and the facilities are very clean. It is right along the South Toe River and there are plenty of trailheads you can hike right from the campground. You can also get firewood right in the campground. The campground is fairly remote and there is no cell service. We stayed in campsite 23 and would highly recommend!

Fantastic setting, very clean and orderly campground. Friendly host with ample firewood. Hot showers were wonderful after our Mt Mitchell hike.

I arrived late due to traffic and weather conditions. I finally found my spot and parked with help from a friendly camper near by and then I realized there was zero cell service. I live and work in my trailer full time and this is the first campground that I have run into that didn't have any cell service or wifi at all. This was a valuable lesson on my part as I learn to verify that before I make my reservation now. Half the park was closed due to flood damage but the half that was open seemed quiet and nice. Mostly tents and a few RV's. No hookups at all at most of the sites. Only the FF sites had electric.

From Asheville, North Carolina, take I-26 west to exit 9 onto 19 east towards Burnsville. Follow 19 to Micaville and turn right onto Highway 80. Continue south approximately 12-14 miles to Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Turn right on South Toe River Road and follow signs to Black Mountain Campground.
Black Mountain Campground is accessible via I-26 and US Highway 19. From I-26, take exit 9 onto US 19 east towards Burnsville.
