Pulled up to our reserved spot to find another camper already there. Camp host was out and we didn't feel like hanging out in the campground which is essentially a parking lot. Disappointing experience.

Overall, the campground was nice - the spots along the river were very large, shaded, clean and close to the beautiful river. The trails are also beautiful with multiple waterfalls. We booked site #1 and were very surprised at how small it was. We had a 4 man tent and the space really wouldn’t be able to accommodate more that a 1-2 man. Fortunately our friends had site 2 booked which was plenty big enough for us all. There was also quite a bit of trash - mostly empty alcohol bottles and cans at our reserved site. We were there from Saturday to Monday and the camp host was never available. The “out” sign was in place the entire weekend. We wanted to ask where we could get local wood since there was none available for purchase at the campsite. That was a bit disappointing as well. Overall, we will be back and will adjust based on what we learned this first trip.

Curtis Creek is a great campground with very good hiking within yards of the campsites, large, mostly flat creek-side campsites and decent infrastructure that was kept clean while we camped there. Curtis Creek and branches running to and from around the campground provide gorgeous, peaceful natural surroundings- some of the best in the area. The hike along Hickory Branch in particular is excellent, with multiple waterfalls- some small, some large- all beautiful.

2nd trip in a year, quiet and peaceful especially if you are near the creek. Short drive into Old Fort, Black Mountain, or even Asheville.

The site was a little difficult to find, but once there, was well worth it. The creek was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was more than pleasant. If you look to "live off-the-grid" this place is it!!! We only stayed one night, but would definitely stay again.

Curtis Creek was the exact camping spot we needed! Remote, no cell service, clean and quiet! We absolutely loved it. We booked #13 to be away from the road and cars, it was amazing! Snooks Nose trail is right across from the campground as well, if you enjoy very steep hikes ;)! We will be back

My harchback tent filled with water due to downpours, my attached awning to my rails and crossbars broke during a storm, slapping the side of my minivan, and my sun shelter had its fiberglass rod on one side absolutely shredded, no cell phone service at all. Site hosts did not stay on site very much, but they were kind. I had to return to Greenville, NC because of malfunctions but did come back before the end of the stay, traumatized by it.
