Overall, a good place to camp and get away from it all! Very quiet, with a secluded feel. I was at the end of the tents only section. All alone down there, very near the creek. I could tell the camp host and maintenance folks take pride in their work—place was clean and tidy.

Great Campsite! Booking online was easy, site and grounds were very clean. And the staff that I met (cleaner and road work crew) were all super friendly and informative. There are some great roads to motorcycle on whether it be on tar or dual sport. I didn't get to hike much around the campsite but will definitely be back for more of that. It was a nice drive over to Mt. Mitchell for my high point hike and was nice to be far enough away from the bigger sites. Even though the campground was full on the weekend everyone was respectful of noise and it was pleasant. And all but me and 2 others cleared out on Sunday so Monday was almost completely empty. We absolutely LOVE camping in Curtis Creek. We stayed in site 4–creek access, short walk to a bathroom, and pretty private. There is endless hiking in some of the most beautiful woods I’ve seen. Can’t wait to come back!

We are newbies to RV camping; this is one of only 5 campgrounds we have stayed at. This was NOT a fun experience. We arrived after dark and the road in from the south was harrowing….terrible ruts and potholes that made me worry about bottoming out the generator of my camper van. I cannot imagine how larger vehicles got in. The site itself was flat and required no leveling, and it was quiet at night. I did not brave the pit toilets but my 10 year of son said, “That was the second worst pooping experience of my entire life” and said it was filthy inside. Knowing the road from the South was awful, we headed north toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. That wasn’t nearly as potholed or rutted as the south, but the grades were steep, the dirt road was muddy, and it was harrowing.

Did we have fun? Absolutely. We’re the facilities clean? Yes, more than most places we have been. Did we fell safe? Um, mostly. The camp host left after our first night there. It was after Christmas but the campground doesn’t close until January 3rd. We choose this campground because it was our first cold weather tent camping and having a camp host made us feel more comfortable and safe. But then they left. We still finished our trip despite being completely alone except for one interesting fellow camper each night (each night a different one). But we were also the weirdos tent camping in the teens and 20s so… we’d do it again.

Awesome campground! Super clean and tidy. The campground is pretty tucked back and secluded but I wish the sites themselves were more spread out. Fresh drinking water and vault toilets added some comfort.

Beautiful location, clean camp. A little confusion upon arrival due to tagpost not updated but worked out fine.
