Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This campground is a secret gem! We stayed Fourth of July week and it was not full. The bugs were fine and the sites spacious. The bathrooms and bathhouses are very clean. The showers are cold but in July in the OBX they were a blessing!

Seriously the best bargain for staying on the OBX in the summer and the stars were amazing!!

Only complaints are that the grass needed to me mowed badly on our site— it was down while we were staying- and the beach was kind of a far walk. Otherwise perfect

We've been coming to the Cape Point Campground since the early 1980s, and my wife from the 1960s. Major improvements from our last stay included new grills, paved roadways, reconditioned bathrooms, and reconditioned showers. The showers are still cold, but the floors have been tiled and despite the improvements only 2/3 of the showers actually work. The vegetation between campsites continues to grow and aid a bit a privacy.

The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
General

A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.

There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.

Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
