Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

We had a great time, the camp ground was clean, in good condition.
They really need to get hot water at the shower houses, that cold water shower is medieval, primitive and charter building, although you eventually sort of get used to it.

The campsites were very well kept and clean. The bathrooms were nice, enclosed, and maintained. The showers are semi-open-air, don't have a light, and are not hot. I would recommend showering during the day to avoid attracting more bugs and keep the showers brief. Very cute deer around too!

The lack of electrical connections keeps many RVs away; it's the best campground for tent campers like me. It does get swampy during real wet weather.

Policies & Rules

General

  • The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.   • Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a campsite.
