This is the best campground in the Smokies. I come up here every year with a bunch of guys from our local hiking club and we always have a great time. The camp host are always very courteous and helpful.

The campground and facilities were clean, and the tent pad was dry. I just wished the campsite that I had was more private. I could hear the campers in the tent behind our's talking even though they were whispering and people were cutting through our campsite walking next to our tent to go to the restroom.

Great place to camp. We had a tent space and had no issues while there. The bathrooms were always clean. Only downside not limited to this specific campsite was that pets were not allowed on the trails and that was not known beforehand as we brought our dog. Policy should be something like “pets allowed on trails at owners own risk”.

We love to camp in Balsalm Mountain campground. It is much cooler than the lower campgrounds and very quiet. In the evenings, it is a short trek up to Heintooga Overlook to view beautiful sunsets.

Love the campground. Always cool enough to enjoy. Host always helpful and friendly. Good hiking trails nearby. Met a lot of nice people/fellow campers while there. Been several times and always a good experience.
