What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground is praised for its beautiful, wooded setting, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to hiking trails and nearby attractions. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and the enjoyable ranger programs. However, some concerns include maintenance issues, such as overgrown grass and the need for more thorough restroom cleaning, along with the absence of showers and limited privacy between sites.

The campground itself was great! it was a lovely spot with a stream running through it and with a great nature trail within it. No hookups at all but level paved spaces. I wish we had more time to stay but our overnight stay was perfect. The camp host (we never got his name but he was in the RV section) was the nicest and most helpful person we've run into in any campground!
The bathroom would've been the only area for improvement. It was just ok, unfortunately no showers and a could have used a cleaning but after some of the others we've seen, it wasn't that bad.

We had a nice spot for our small travel trailer with a good amount of privacy. There are no hook ups, but we knew that and are prepared to be off grid for the five nights we were there. Very close to the visitors center and the towns (e.g., Cherokee) just outside of the park.

We had a great time! We were 6 people with 2 cars. Next time we’ll get two campsites. People were friendly and the restrooms worked well. We did lots of hiking and had a cookout. It was a very nice time and we’ll be there again.

We stayed on C9 across from the water which was so nice. Tom the host was very helpful and always walking around the campground. Bathrooms were clean.

Please continue to support the national parks, and please lift the hiring freeze. The GSMNP is a treasure and needs to be fully staffed with full time park staff committed to protecting the national parks for future generations. The national parks are a treasure that I fully support being funded with taxpayer dollars.
