What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground is praised for its beautiful, wooded setting, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to hiking trails and nearby attractions. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and the enjoyable ranger programs. However, some concerns include maintenance issues, such as overgrown grass and the need for more thorough restroom cleaning, along with the absence of showers and limited privacy between sites.

Beautiful campground in the Smokeys! Sites are very level for RV'S. Many sites are shaded. Bathrooms were clean. We actually had a herd of Elk come through the campground one evening (really cool, but make you you don't try to approach them!).

Mid May visit was perfect time of year. Although near full, the campground is well laid out with plenty of facilities. The trail head was easy access and the 6 mi loop was well worth the hike. Staff at campground as well as staff at riding facility were all extremely friendly and professional. It was especially note worthy of how the entire campground area seemed to flip a switch when quiet hours came around and everyone seemed to simply quiet down all at once. Will return in the future. :)

Loved the campground and especially enjoyed seeing so many elk at the visitor center and the local roads pretty much every evening. The Smokies are amazing!

We enjoyed our stay in Smokemount. We camped in section B across from the river. We saw Elk 3 times in camp during our 10 day stay.
No generators allowed in this section.
There were some good hikes right from camp.
Only hike dogs are allowed near camp is at visitor center. It is a good hike by river.

Very nice campgrounds. The camping sites were a bit too close together. Otherwise, the camp was clean and we'll managed.
