Smokemont Campground is praised for its beautiful, wooded setting, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to hiking trails and nearby attractions. Campsites are very shallow making it difficult to park camper and car. Satellite parking spots available. Campsites very open with few trees or separation between sites. There is no hot water in restrooms. Nature trail for hiking in campground.

The campground is always clean and conveniently located. I only live approximately 30 minutes away but I can't there all the time. I love the old church and I love the river. Park rangers are generally nice as well. I like to pull through sites a lot

We had a lovely stay. Elk came visiting on both nights. Great hike right out of campground. We will come back!

I love staying at Smokemont. Always polite campers willing to share but respecting quiet hours. Beautiful nature walk connected to campsite, abundant wildflowers and butterflies on Oconaluftee. When you need to buy something the site shop usually has it; if it doesn't you can just drive 20 minutes to the Cherokee Reservation and purchase from them, which also a great spot to tour and learn. Happened to be quite cold during my stay and I sure was glad to be in the southern and warmer side of the park. Always a good time & staff are great.

Campsite was great. Not crowded, quiet in the trees. Smaller size camping area. Camp host volunteer was one of the friendliest on the trip. Ranger nice as well. Enjoyed out stay.
