What Guests Are Saying
Smokemont Campground is praised for its beautiful, wooded setting, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to hiking trails and nearby attractions. We loved our site. Close to the stream and right next to the log walking bridge. Loved hearing the sound of the stream especially at night. Staff was friendly. Riding stables on the same road. Really enjoyed our 1 hour guided horse ride.

Difficult to find a solar-friendly site here, but the campground and facilities were well kept. No cellular service, but a short drive into Cherokee will get you at least 3 bars of 5G (AT&T).

Campground is very nice. Site was fine. Water fill and dump station were very much in need of repair. Had to use a bungee cord to keep water on. Spend some of the tag money on repairs!

Easily accessible campground with wooded sites, many of them pull-through. Appreciated easy access to washrooms and dumpsters. It was a quiet and peaceful stay.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mother's Day with our children and grandchildren at Smokemont. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, with lots of fixings on the side. Our grandchildren enjoyed riding their bikes around F Loop.

While it is understandable that the entire campground is not open in early April, we do not understand why tent campers and those in RVs or cars with generators cannot be designated to a separate section. We came to camp, to listen to the brook and wildlife NOT to listen to motors.
Bathrooms need updating and daily cleaning.
Aside from these comments, the location is convenient to hiking trails, the sites are level, and it still has a wild feeling to it. Elk roamed the campground daily.
