I only made my reservation a day in advance, and arrived around 6pm. No attendant and I saw some other hang tags waiting for others to arrive… will book out farther in the future as mine was not there! I’m sure it’s difficult with the limited cell service in the area. I was texting using the satellite feature on my iPhone to text there. Very nice campground. I brought a backpacking tent to try out for the first time. It was crowded but everyone respected the quiet time. I was also pleasantly surprised to see everyone properly disposing of their food waste quickly into the bear safe trash cans. Love it! Felt very safe, also loved having the bathrooms nearby. Overall would come again in the future as I love hiking and it was very convenient to get an early start on the popular trails!

Iconic campground. We stayed in the tent only part and it was so peaceful and uncrowded and kids riding bikes and playing in the creek! This campground is why I go camping!

Been going to Smokemount for 40 yrs. This year was disappointing. The grounds throughout the campground were uncut and unmanaged. The restrooms were basically the same. I was told the lawnmower was broken and they were waiting for approval of a part from Washington DC, whatever that means.
Smokemount is a beautiful campground, but the lack of maintenance throughout the facility didn’t let it live up to the expectations.

It has been over 40 years since I had last camped at Smokemont .
It was nice a peaceful. There were some changes with newer building.
i was a little disappointed that you still do not have hot showers.
The personnel were all friendly and helpful.

I've been going to Smokemont for 70 years. The campground is in really bad shape. The grass looks like it has not been cut this year.

Beautiful campground. Love section F. Lots of trails and things to do nearby. Loved seeing the elk near Oconoluftee Visitor Center. Kids can ride bikes, fish, float, and lots more right in the campground.

Shady, beautiful stream. The only complaint is the RV next to our tent had a generator running for hours. When I selected our site I would not have picked a site next to an rv with a generator. Keep all generators in the other side of the stream.
