Smokemont Campground is praised for its beautiful, wooded setting, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to hiking trails and nearby attractions. Our favorite campground in the GSMNP! We love the spacious sites, the park staff and rangers are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Even when full up it’s quiet and peaceful.

There wasn’t really a level spot for our tent and the sites in our loop were extremely close. Right on top of each other. Normal conversation could be heard between sites. Bathroom had a terrible odor the whole time. But fire pit and picnic table were great.

We go here every Labor Day weekend and have been for 8 years now. We love the area and camp ground. The last 2 or 3 years the Park Rangers have seemed to grow progressively more rude. We camp with many of our friends at multiple sites with many children. I have friends that will not come back due to how the rangers treat people. I know we are a lot, but a little kindness goes a long way. I hope in the years to come the rangers can show a little more kindness and compassion towards us.

Beautiful campground. Saw lots of Elk and a good bull elk. Will definitely return.

Smokemont is our favorite camping facility in the park. With pull-through sites, it makes it easy to set up. We've tent camped previously in the campground, but this is the first time we've brought an RV. With our Winnebago Travato, the site was plenty big for us. The common facilities are clean and well kept. The access to hiking trails is convenient and the views around the campground are spectacular.
