Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! (that’s one for -each- day of my recent 3 day Long Range Rifle class). It's going to be hard to accurately describe just how exceptional -everything- about this facility is...but I will try. When you call and talk to Melanie (sp?) she will be able to set you up with one of their -beautifully- appointed and accommodating rooms for your stay (best rooms within 25 mile radius for sure), outline the offerings that work best for you.
When I showed up my expectations were honestly rather low since every other range (to date) has been rather basic, sometimes just a place to shoot and maintenance is either an afterthought, or basic at best.
Here at Colemans you can see vision, growth, and significant investment into making THE best facility on the East Coast. (that’s a period)
Being blessed to have met and talking with the owners during my visit, and my -amazing- instructor Dan Posey, who not only shared their vision and plans in motion, but showed the actual progress on works near completion (like their new training facility and upcoming FFL, gun shop with a gunsmith!, clubhouse with kitchen, etc, etc. All coming in a few short months) these guys are 'walking the talk' and just amazing salt of the earth people! When they say the want to 'overdeliver' they actually mean it.
At the end of the day it's about the training and facility right? The facility is a throw down statement... 'top this!' it screams to other ranges, facilities... as the ONLY facility where the public has a chance to shoot at one of their numerous ranges including the vaunted '1 mile'.
While shooting the mile sounds exciting (it is)...it’s the process in the 3 day class that possibly leads up to that point where the real uniqueness of Colemans reveals itself... It has a name.. Dan Posey. If he ever reads this I am certain he is blushing red lol since this guy has deep humility, but I don’t care.. he is a gift, and he freely shares his gifts with his students in a patient, direct, simplified manner that -really- cuts through the billion and one things related to long range shooting.
That said he is the director of training at Colemans, who is truly blessed to have him! Dan is a former Green Beret Sniper Instructor who now calls Colemans home. He has a unique, and truly appreciated, ability to 'read the room' and determine exactly 'where you are' and based on what he determines (by asking) what your goals are, how best to get you there.
You will learn from the ground up...what's important, what's not important, what the -real- differences are between all of the hype, and what would benefit -you- specifically tailored to you, at your level, with your equipment, on your long range journey. We had 4 students in our class (which Colemans strives for a 4:1 student:instructor ratio) with 2 active military and 2 civilians yet we ALL said we were blown away with Dan -far- exceeding our expectations...nuff said. Hanging out with Dan and fellow students after the course was also a refreshing plus since its obvious Colemans isn't just a facility...it’s a community!
Dan has attracted a cadre of instructors also with -very- impressive resumes. While I did not get to meet them, I can say he has set a -very- high standard for a teacher (in any discipline TBH) to follow.
While Ellerbe is bit of a drive for me from Maryland, it's -totally- worth it whatever your travel distance may be! I simply cannot wait to get back here to another course, event because it's just THAT awesome! I will post a few pictures of my experience here and I the only negative I have about this past week was it was that it was over in 3 days!

I recently completed the 3 day Advanced Long Range Shooting Class at Coleman’s Creek Training Center and couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire experience. It was by far the most comprehensive and engaging training I’ve received since returning to civilian life. The class was strategically limited to 10 shooters, which ensured the instructors could give each of us plenty of one-on-one attention. The course was well-thought out and organized to where each day’s training built the foundation for the next, helping to really lock-in those lesson’s learned. I’ve taken a few classes over the years since getting into PRS/competitive shooting and this one ran by the Coleman’s Creek staff was by far the most put-together, practical, and genuinely enjoyable experience to date. When your instructors are not only world champion shooters but also top-tier special operations members with real world experience, you know damn well that you’re in for a good time. My only regret is not signing up sooner. It was certainly hands down the best money I’ve spent since getting into this hobby.

This is the finest (and even prettiest) long range shooting facility I’ve ever visited. The varied natural terrain with all the rolling hills and canyons allow you to really test a variety of skills. The facilities are also superb, with brand new bunk houses and a clubhouse that sells ammo and a small variety of parts/gear in the event you forget something or have an unexpected equipment failure. If I lived closer I would definitely be a member.

5 Stars are not enough to rate Coleman's Creek Shooting Range. I signed up for the PRS Senior Match and decided to spend the night at the range in the new lodging accommodations. I was pleasantly surprised and had a great stay. They did a fantastic job setting up the rooms. They were very quiet and comfortable, and just right for a stay at the range. It was very convenient to spend the night and get up to shoot the match without any travel. The price of the room was very competitive compared to leaving the range and going to a hotel in town.
On another note, the staff members are the best. They are always very helpful and genuinely concerned that the members are taking care of. I would like to especially Thank Jodi for his help at the senior match. I had a great time and looking forward to the next PRS Match. Thanks again to all the Staff and Management at Coleman's Creek Shooting Range.

I’ve been a member at Coleman’s for a year now, and it’s easily one of the best shooting facilities around. Every visit, the range seems to grow — not just in size, but in capability and professionalism.
I just finished a 3-day, 2-gun course with Jason, and it was phenomenal. His instruction is clear, professional, and genuinely focused on helping everyone improve. You walk away more confident, capable, and safe.
Highly recommend Coleman’s and their instructors if you’re serious about leveling up your shooting skills.
