Stayed at Group Site B in the Kimsey Creek area. There were vault toilets available at the site and flush toilets/showers within a 2 minute walk. The site was perfect and had plenty of space available for a large group. The camp store is cash only and sells ice, firewood, toiletries, and ice cream. Highly recommend this camp ground and will return!

Very nice campground! I loved being able to hike around and find good fishing spots all at camp. Spaces between sites are a good distance and I could barely hear any generators.

From Franklin, North Carolina, take U.S. Highway 64 west approximately 12 mi, passing through Winding Stair Gap. Near the bottom of the mountain from the gap, turn left on West Old Murphy Road (State Route 1448) and watch for a directional sign fo...
From Franklin, North Carolina, take U.S. Highway 64 west approximately 12 mi, passing through Winding Stair Gap. Near the bottom of the mountain from the gap, turn left on West Old Murphy Road (State Route 1448) and watch for a directional sign for the campground. Go 1.9 mi and turn right on Forest Road 67 at the Standing Indian Campground sign. This is a paved road. Go 1.7 mi and turn right into the campground.
Highway access
The campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 64, which is approximately 12 miles from Franklin, North Carolina, and connects to State Route 1448 (West Old Murphy Road) leading to the campground.
