Very nice and clean campground. Very convenient to ocean. Lots of vegetation that offers a buffer to many of the sites. Large RV's should be aware that some sites might not fit their parking needs.

Campground was clean, quiet and peaceful. On the outer loop the trailer door/awning faces away from the table and more open space. Can be blustery.

I really enjoy staying at the Frisco campground. The campsites are always clean, the showers are nice and the bathrooms are very well serviced. I also impressed how campers here abid by the rules and pretty much leave no trace. It's like every one knows how beautiful this place is and keeps it that way. The views are really good the higher you go up into the dunes. I have a few favorites that have 180° view of the ocean and mostly all campsites have there own unique things going and no e of them are the same. The host/staff/volunteers are always so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place if you plan on visiting Hatteras Island. And I dont think I've ever meet unhappy camper in my life but I'd there is such a thing. I say camp here and you will be Happy you did. Happy Trails and Safe Travels my friends. Peace

Great campground if you select the appropriate location for your particular setup. Better in cool weather when the bugs are gone. :) Having ramp 49 as part of the campground is a plus and the fishing was great while we were there.

Most beautiful campground! Lots of shady spots and great for our dog. Just have to watch out for sand spurs/burrs in the feet. No hook-ups and cold showers only. Quick walk over the dunes to the expansive beach. Lots of people drive onto the beach and fish. Perfect October weather - the water was amazing. Quick drive or bike ride to market and a few restaurants.

Campground wasn't really designed for people in tents as most sites didn't a defined area for a tent or even a flat space. Bathrooms were clean and there was easy access to the beach.

Decent campsite, decent restrooms. Very basic, only cold showers which is to be expected. No Frills getaway on Hatteras.

Very spacious and quite campground. Every campground has an installed coal barbeque grill. I had a tent and a car. Campsite was sandy, spacious and had shadow as well as sun. Great star view at Nights . Very close to the and in the shores. Showers are in nature with no hot water , but it heats up little bit up during the day, I Loved it.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
