Nice well kept campground. the view as you are leaving the campground is just Great. Dunes, American flag, ocean, and horizon. Wish they had hot showers though.

Very nice, clean campground. Many sites with a variety of settings, I tent camped in a nice protected area with bushes all around me so it wasn't very windy. Cold water at showers but very nice and clean facilities as well. Would definitely camp here again.

P044 was the campsite we stayed in. This campground has amazing amenities for being a non electric campground. They have nice tiled bathrooms and showers (cold). Filter water station as well as a well water if needed too. They have wood paths that lead all the way to beach. My campsite I will say did welcome us with a cottonmouth when we first arrived it was rather feisty but then headed on it's way. We also did see another snake but we could tell it was a rat snake so it wasn't of bother to us safety wise. If you plan on staying here just be prepared to potentially deal with cottonmouths because they are in the area. We didn't have service in our specific campsite however if you walked down the road 100ft you got signal again so nothing was too bothersome there.

We stayed at site p 61. This is a very nice level site. However there is a very very long walk to the restrooms.
It would make sense for a pathway to be made through the thick underbrush to create reasonable access.
Otherwise this is a beautiful campground!

Not being able to make reservations on the day of the visit is a problem. In general, making reservations on recreation.gov can quite frustrating. Campsites are often booked months in advance, and then people don't show up. The parks don't care because they have their money and the place is 100% booked, but campsites go unused.

I've been coming to Frisco National Campground on Cape Hatteras National Seashore for decades. Beautiful sand beaches and 4-wheel drive access to fishing off the beach. Frisco campground is nestled into rugged dunes with old pine trees and wind blown junipers. Each individual campsite is unique, with some more shaded and nestled into the trees, and others more open and sunny. The restroom buildings are separated from the shower buildings and are conveniently located around the campground. The showers are cold water only, so be prepared for a bracing indoor/outdoor shower. The rangers and maintenance employees are responsive and friendly. My favorites place to be.

This is a very nice campground with some trees that provide shelter. It was pretty quiet during our stay. Virtually no staff visible the whole time we were there. The sites are not set back very far from the road, so on the outer loop there is a fair amount of traffic passing by the site. But there is more privacy than the other two campgrounds on the island. It's walking distance to the beach. I don't know why the Park Service can't figure out how to prevent no-shows that tie up sites for people who reserve them but don't show up. Maybe require a refundable deposit or a deadline to show up or call. It's a shame that people who want to camp can't get a site because someone has reserved it and doesn't use it. I was very disappointed that there is no way to recycle at the campground -- on Earth Day no less!

Nice campground. Many sheltered and partly private sites. Easy and quick access to the beach. Cold water shower a little difficult early in the season.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
