Frisco campground is convenient to see the Hatteras Lighthouse & the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. Campground itself is more scenic than Oregon Inlet, although there are no electric or water campsites. Restrooms are modern & clean. Separate shower building doesn't have heated water... which works on a hot sunny day, but not on a cold, rainy one. The boardwalk through the dunes ends in a sandy hill to climb up & down - we belatedly found a flat road for vehicles through the dunes. The number of trucks & jeeps crowding the beach was frustrating. We could tolerate the ones with fishing poles, but the guys just wanting to show off testosterone by driving fast on a beach were irritating. We found some shells on a small stretch not trammeled by tires.

We stayed in P055 for 3 days mid April in a tent. It is a beautiful sparse campground with pockets of privacy and shade for tents. The bathrooms are very clean and the beaches, boardwalks, and trails are beautiful. It was truly a wonderful experience

Love the remoteness and beauty of the park among the dunes, and enjoyed the casual vibe among campers and park staff. Well maintained campsites and trails. We'll be back again!

I enjoyed the privacy of my campsite and the location of the campground. A warm shower would have nice and I would gladly pay a bit more for electricity. The night sky there was breathtaking!

Facilities were as advertised. (Clean and well kept. No utilities provided.) The weather did not cooperate but not the campground fault. Campsites in the lower sections closer toward the beach would have been better protected from the wind and shorter access to the beach.

Beautiful place. Gorgeous views. Cold showers. Dump station is almost a 30 minute drive. Ticks. Ticks of all sizes everywhere and on everything.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
