The island was beautiful, however the cabins were dirty and in need of repair.

Fine for 3 guys fishing, but I wouldn't call it a family vacation spot. The wife and kids may be accustomed to something less rustic. Shower, stove and sink all worked fine. A fish cleaning station would've been nice, but the view of the stars can't be beat.

Staff, check-in, check-out, office, fueling and ice services...EXCELLENT.
Somewhat recent Hurricane damage to cabins...several in need of repair. (roofs, paint, etc.)
Inside was very functional and clean....beds, kitchen, bath, porch, etc.
Been coming for many years....will come again.

We stayed in a cabin for one night in September and camped on the beach the next night. We had the best trip. We walked on the ferry and used one of the ferry’s carts because we don’t have a four-wheel drive car. When we got over, the volunteers drove our stuff over to cabin. We didn’t have a generator for power but it was like glamping for a night. Sat on the screened in porch and watched the sunset. There’s a gas stove to cook with too and the cabin is practically right on the water. The volunteers recommended that we rent a kubota from the ferry company if we wanted to drive and see the whole island. Also, a great decision. In September, the island is pretty much all fisherman except for the southern end by the lighthouse. Definitely the perfect place for a quiet, remote getaway if you’re willing to put the work in or rough it a bit. We will be back in April.

Stayed in cabin #1 it was as good as any of the other cabins we have stayed in. Shaped a little different than the other 6 person cabins but it is a fishing cabin on an island.
