What Guests Are Saying
Jackrabbit Mountain is a beautiful campground with scenic lake views and well-maintained hiking and biking trails. Many campers appreciate the clean bathrooms and spacious, private campsites, making it a great spot for families and nature enthusiasts. While some facilities could use improvement, such as the bathroom hooks and the absence of firewood for sale, the overall experience remains positive, with friendly hosts and a peaceful atmosphere.

This is a great place to camp on the lake, which is nice for swimming and paddling. It has great trails as well for hiking, running and biking!

Nice tent pads with post and hooks
Many of the camp sites were screened by vegetation from neighboring sites
Beautiful lake views
Many hiking trails nearby, including some with great waterfalls
Close (~6 miles) from Hiwassee, GA and several restaurants and stores
Water available across the road at a spigot
Cons
Bathroom was somewhat rudimentary. Neither the toilet room nor the shower room had any hooks to hang anything. The bathroom hand dryer didn’t work and no paper towels
The shower was nice. Water was hot and there were two spigots, one down low.
Most of the campsites in C loop had stairs down to the tent pad so you couldn’t park adjacent to the tent
The campsites inside the C loop were very exposed with not much vegetation to screen them from view and most had stairs to them

Nice tent site and campground. Campsite is down the hill enough that we were not bothered by the close bathroom. Lake is beautiful and we even saw a floatplane take off.

The trails at JackRabbit are top notch; fun, flowy, challenging, not scary. The campsites are well spaced. Nice to wake up to fog over the lake.

Excellent campground! We tent-camped in site 70, which bordered the lake so it was great views from the campsite and easy to access for walks along the beach. Bathrooms were clean and in good condition and also a short walk from the campsite (but FYI there is no soap). The proximity to Hiawassee was also nice since we still had access to town amenities while having the opportunity to be secluded in nature. Also, for awareness to future visitors: there is no firewood for sale at the campground. We had to buy some at some at the Ingles grocery store in town.

Arrived in the evening and found an RV parked at my site I had reserved, this RV had nobody in it. There was no host on site and nobody answered the number to call. It began getting dark and I had nowhere to go and had to pay for another site in order to have a place to set up my tent before daylight ran out.

Love Jack Rabbit. Tried the loop with site 90 for the first time. This loop is much quieter. I usually stay on loop with site 55. Bathrooms are always clean. Sites on the lake seem to all have trail access to the water. Mtn bike trails are great there. Def worth the trip!
