Nice wooded sites with plenty of privacy. FYI , Site 8, we booked on recreation.gov states it’s 30a but only had a 50a outlet. That needs to be changed in the description. The host was very nice and helped us find another site.

- No lock on one of the shower doors, so only two were usable if you don’t have someone to stand guard.
- No wood available for fire pits but they don’t want you to bring wood - none available at any stores in the area either.
- No announcement on the website that the beach is closed - appears to have been closed for a long time. So no swimming or kayaking! You can’t get close to the water.
- Dumpster overfilled and stinking. Had to just throw trash on top of the dumpster because there was no more room.
- Fire pits not being cleaned out. Several inches thick with ashes.

I really like this quiet campground that is located so conveniently to New Bern, Cherry Point, Morehead City, and Beaufort. Sites are private and shaded. Restrooms and showers are clean and private. Trails are nice, but it was too wet from rain to use them on this trip. I really wish the Forest Service would reestablish access to the river though. It's a shame to have a riverside campground where there isn't even a view of the river.

We reserved site 37 for our 23 foot rv. There is no way a rv can get into this site unless maybe a small teardrop camper. Online stated for camper or tent. People who were there camping told us that site is usually for tent only. Anyway, camp host stated nothing else was available and couldn't help cancel my reservation. Eventually, we found a nice site at another campground up the road. We really like Flanners Beach and have stayed there before site 13, but online site 37 should state for tents only. Could not clear 10 feet backing in due to trees, they would have taken our air conditioning unit off. After calling 3 times, we finally got a refund.

We have stayed at Flanners Beach campground twice. Both times, the beach area has been closed. The sites are large and semi-private. There were three showers available at the bathhouse near Site 6 where we camped. One did not have a lock on the door and no curtain. If someone opened the door, you would be exposed. We camped with a travel trailer and had electric hookup. We enjoyed the paved trail that circles the campground and we also rode our mountain bikes on the bike trails.

It’s a beautiful campground with trails and beach but the beach is closed now due to hurricane damage but still worth the visit. Turn right and go up to the gate to check in via text.

Host was super helpful at the beginning. I accidentally booked a non electric site and they found and switched us to an electric one.

Had a great time at Flanners Beach Campround. After the weather cleared out my wife and I went on walks around the campground and on the trails. The only downside is that you cannot get to the beach. After a previous hurricane destroyed the beach and they haven't fixed it yet. They have it blocked off so you can't get to it. This is our second stay here and will be coming back again.
