Flanners Beach Campground offers a peaceful and secluded environment with spacious, clean campsites and well-maintained trails, making it ideal for nature lovers. Many guests praised the friendly and helpful campground hosts, as well as the reasonable pricing. We absolutely loved this area! The Hosts are absolutely wonderful and makes sure that everyone is doing what they are supposed to. They were even there to help when our tent was leaking in the rain. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was there was no way to reach the water. Everything close to the water including the picnic area was closed. They said it was on a 2 year plan to be redone. But they campground was so nice and the trails were wonderful. The kids had a great time and so did we. We will definitely be back!! ❤️

I experienced hearing loud angry arguing for a hour midnight Friday night. It sounded more like domestic dispute and came from bathhouse side of campground; opposite my campsite and close to host, Bobby&Janice Thompson. Saturday night 1am an 18-wheeler parked idling on campground entrance (directly next to host site). Driver and camper argued very loudly until 215am when truck revved up and drove inside entire campground road. The popping of hydraulic hoses and brake lines was very frightening alone, not to mention sheer size of 18-wheeler maneuvering very small campground, was unnerving at 1 - 230am. I felt an out of body experience locating me back where the event causing my life stressing event happened long ago. My PTSD was triggered and I decided that leaving is wiser choice since Bobby&Janice failed on the risk management part for Flanners Campground as a whole.

THE BEACH IS CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE FLORENCE!!! NO SWIMMING OR WATER ACCESS HERE!!! The campground is nice and nice facilities. Only issue was the host the man is very nice and pleasant the woman his wife not so much. She will accuse people of speeding through the campground and is very rude about it. Speed limit is 5 and we had site right at gate they keep closed so no room to speed to our site if wanted too. She accused my husband of speeding and we had been back for a good hour before she came and said she knows it was a dark truck and very deaminingly said was him. Most of the trucks were dark in color there lol. There is a nice paved path around the campground where you can view the water at least. But do not enter beach area as host said they will arrest people if go past the closed gates. Campground flat and nice large sites with trees for privacy.

Janice and Bobby are the absolute best hosts!! They were very kind and accommodating. The sites were very well kept and the fire area set up was awesome! Each fire ring has a grill that you can raise or lower for better than normal temperature control while cooking. The bath house was very clean and they kept it stocked everyday. And there was hot water in the showers! Cell signal was just about perfect even out on the trails! I will definitely be back soon!

Didn't appreciate having to get in and out of my rv to swing open an unlocked front gate everytime we came and went.

Hosts very helpful, found a site that allowed us the 3rd night we really wanted. Disappointed there was no beach/river access due to Hurricane Florence damage, but still some nice trails to walk! Peaceful location, easy to get to, nice bathhouse.

We really enjoyed our recent trip to Flanners Beach Campground! The campground itself was very clean and quiet and our hosts were very friendly and attentive. The sites were nicely spaced, providing shade and privacy between guests. Flanners Beach Campground does not have individual site water hookup, but we weren’t inconvienced at all. We filled our fresh water tank at the filling site near the entrance and were fine all week. Water spigots are conveniently located throughout the campground, just incase! The only negative to staying at Flanners Beach Campground is the lack of beach access. There is a nice day use area as well as a public beach area but it sustained heavy Hurricane Florence damage, and has been closed to visitors since. I hope they repair the damage soon and reopen the beach and day use areas. Our stay would have been perfect with access to swimming. The New Bern area is steeped in history and we enjoyed visiting many of those sites. We walked the streets of historic downtown New Bern, visited Tryon Palace, traced the soldiers’ steps at the New Bern Battlefield all in the same day and conveniently located to Flanners Beach Campground. We really enjoyed exploring the Outer Banks via 4 wheel drive at Cape Lookout Seashore. This day trip is truly the best way to experience the Outer Banks! Overall, we really enjoyed our Flanners Beach Campground experience and brought home many amazing memories!!

Pros: Thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Small campground feel with many deep set, wooded campsites. Paved walking trail around the perimeter of the campground and other dirt surfaced multi-use trails within walking distance. Beach area overlooks part of the Neuse River. Short car ride to multiple cities. Campground hosts, Bobby & Janice, were phenomenal, helpful, attentive!!!
Cons: Campground had just reopened after H. Dorian...a lot of beach clean-up remains and some closed trails d/t erosion. The bathhouse could definitely use an overhaul & update.
