This place is amazing. A beautiful property with several cabin type units. They were so great with communication and treating us well. They have a market shack with great little treats and the rooms were stocked with snacks and beverages. Views were equal to all of this. Getting on and off the mountain may be intimidating for some so I would recommend eating in town early and coming back for a beautiful sunset and s’mores by the fire!

My wife and I stayed in the Nuthatch tent for four nights and were VERY pleased with the experience. Other reviewers comments regarding the views and interior accommodations are spot-on! From the contactless checkin and checkout to the all-inclusive nature of the resort, E&E exceeded our expectations. In fact, there wasn’t a single area that we felt needed improvement. For Floridians, it was quite cold (low 30s to low 50s), but we walked on nearly every trail - except the Cataloochees - and found them all to be well maintained. Had the weather been better, we would have hung out on The Weave for at least some period of time. We used our near-tent firepit twice, so we had the full ‘embers’ experience…but missed out on seeing any elk. We plan on returning in the Fall, in hopes of rectifying that situation!

Just got back from a quick weekend getaway here and already want to go back. We stayed in the Crabtree Cabin, which was the epitome of luxury and had incredible views of the mountains. The owners thought of every possible detail to make sure everyone's stay is incredible, from the Market Shed offerings, to the golf carts, to the breakfast/lunch deliveries...everything was impeccable. The level of communication leading up to our stay also added a great touch. We spent our first night hanging out on our cabin deck for hours and went into Downtown Waynesville for dinner at Chef's Table on Saturday night. When we return, we will definitely stay for at least one night longer than we did this time. We didn't want to leave. 5 stars all around!

It’s been awhile since we were in the mountains and this was a little further than other places we’ve been, but well worth the extra time. Didn’t know what to expect; Waynesville has a more rural feel to it. But wow, once the gate opened and we drove up to the main parking area it was just spectacular. We stayed at Creekside Cabin; it’s beautifully restored and appointed like something out of a magazine. We were struck by how quiet it was, just wind in the trees and the sound of a small brook just off the back porch. We enjoyed the massive fireplace.
We were celebrating my wife’s 70th birthday and managed to hit the very peak of fall color. There are lots of trails and I longed for the days when I could enjoy a great hike in the mountains. This is for those with an adventurous spirit who still appreciate all the benefits and amenities of luxury surroundings. You can spend your entire time without leaving the grounds or like us, drive to nearby towns for great restaurants and shops. It’s great for a romantic getaway, time with family, or a group of friends.
Definitely tour the grounds when you arrive and it’s still daylight. It was a new moon and very dark when we got back from dinner. I took the golf cart to find the pavilion for some ice and snacks. Missed it and ended up headed down a path to one of the glamping tents….probably startled whoever was staying there!
We’ll be back for sure!

Elk & Ember was amazing! They thought of everything....better than some luxury hotels. You could stay on property and never leave and have everything you need and more. The property was beautiful from the views to the hiking trails. We stayed in Nuthatch and the views were beautiful and the tent was perfect! They also set up massages and advised us on what to do in the near by cities. Cannot wait to visit again!
