Stayed 4 nights in site 54. Nice site other than the debris left behind from the tree cutting. Why do they just pile it up by the site instead of hauling it away like they do for the non wooded sites. It looks terrible. Sites also should be cleaned between check out and check in. Why have to wait until 3 to check in if the sites aren't cleaned after the 11 check out? It's too bad campers leave behind their trash but it happens and should be cleaned up before new campers arrive.

This place is AMAZING!
The front gate staff treated us like we were family. From the second we arrived, we felt welcomed.
The bathrooms and showers? They were so clean it didn't feel like we were at a campground. Ridiculously clean. Oddly enough it's been one of the things I've talked most about. Don't judge me.
The site we had was PERFECT! Very private, shaded where it mattered and sunny where it mattered. Level area for the tent. Fishing nearby. It was awesome!
My only warning is watch out for poison ivy. There was a LOT of it right at the edge of our site. But we watched our step, nobody made contact with it, and we loved every minute we were there!
We will definitely be back very soon.

Camp sites were large and shaded but could use a little TLC, steps going down to picnic table need to be fixed and the boat ramp needs to have some holes fixed. The camper dump station has a sharp turn but you can make it work, overall nice campground.

I love Bandits Roost, but I just wished they would cut back some of the tall weeds around the lake side so we can see better and it would also make it look nicer.

From Winston-Salem, North Carolina, take Highway 421 North (approximately 55 miles) to Exit 286B, turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
From Charlotte, North Carolina, take I-77 North (approximately 60 miles) before merging onto Highway 421 North towards Wilkesboro/Boone. Continue to Exit 286B (approximately 20 miles), turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
Travel times from:
Winston Salem: 1 hour.
Charlotte: 1.5 hours.
The campground is accessible via Highway 421, which is approximately 5 miles from Highway 268, and I-77 is also within reach, merging onto Highway 421 toward Wilkesboro/Boone.
