Great views of the lake and dam, especially on "The Point." Nice swim area, easy to get a SUP or kayak into the water. Super pleasant staff! Only area for improvement is the bathhouse - it's outdated and needs an upgrade.

My husband and I always have a great experience at Bandit's Roost. The camp hosts always give us a courtesy call to let us know if our site becomes available early; big plus. The campground is very clean, well-kept, and peaceful. If we had any complaint at all, it would be there are only two bathhouses for the entire campground.

The application worked great. Beautiful site, well organized. We stayed in site 21, A and it was nice and flat. We were able to walk down the bank to the lake from our campsite and put the kayak in the water. I recommend this location to rest and relax.

We really enjoyed our quiet shady spot #60. My grandsons love the swim beach and fishing. Great place for kids to ride their bikes as well. It's a favorite place for us every summer. Highly recommend it!!!

From Winston-Salem, North Carolina, take Highway 421 North (approximately 55 miles) to Exit 286B, turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
From Charlotte, North Carolina, take I-77 North (approximately 60 miles) before merging onto Highway 421 North towards Wilkesboro/Boone. Continue to Exit 286B (approximately 20 miles), turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
Travel times from:
Winston Salem: 1 hour.
Charlotte: 1.5 hours.
The campground is accessible via Highway 421, which is approximately 5 miles from Highway 268, and I-77 is also within reach, merging onto Highway 421 toward Wilkesboro/Boone.
