For people visiting the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Cottonwood Campground is a great place to stay. Located five miles (8 km) from the entrance to the South Unit of the park, the campground is open year-round. Campground sites are narrow with the picnic tables set far away behind trees and/or bushes. Drive trough sites are very close to the road. Cellular service (AT&T) was sketchy. Fresh water and clean restrooms are nearby. There is NO Dump station at this campground.

We stayed in the upper loop of the Cottonwoods Campground at TRNP. Large site with picnic table, very private. Walking distance to bathrooms. The campground is quite lovely with large trees. At dusk and dawn you can go down to the little Missouri River and watch the wild horses and Bison. We are definitely coming back!
