Located five miles (8 km) from the entrance to the South Unit of the park, the campground is open year-round. The campsite was not big enough for me to par my trailer and pickup. I had to par the pickup across the road. the camp area was mud after a 2 tenth of an inch shower. The entrance did not have any maps as to where the camp ground was. There was not any water at the campsite. There was not an RV Sewer Dump, I was told to go to a private campground in town.

Our site was perfect. We were afraid having the door face the road would be a problem, but site 23 has plenty of foliage between door and road so it was not a problem. Also there seems to be plenty of separation between sites. Note: Try to park as close to table as you can or you cannot extend your awning. We set up our canopy on the non-door side and had an excellent view of the hills and on one afternoon, the wild horses. It rained the first day we were there so we could sit under canopy and still enjoy view. A friendly Camp Host came through soon after we arrived. It appeared that the park was building two additional bathrooms and it is possible that those two had been torn to build new bathrooms as there was only one bathroom for the entire campground. This was not a problem for us as we were camping in a trailer with a bathroom.

The views were stunning, at campsite 65, we had wild horses 20 feet away from us. Camp site was very clean and respectable. Staying inside the park was definitely an extra special treat.
