I stayed at site 47. Back in parking was challenging but it was a good site. I had decent Verizon coverage the bathrooms were clean. I never interacted or even saw any rangers. In the evening I saw wild horses across the River and in the morning a Bison was meandering through the campground.

It is an awesome NP. Has most the sites of a small Yellowstone and animals. The sites are quiet and the campground is great location for base camp to the Northern road into the park as well. Buffalo were in the camp ground and we heard a great horned owl as well. Will revisit again sometime.

Cottonwood Campground has got to be the best National Park campground I have been to in a long time! The sites were nice, plus the wildlife coming and going thru was amazing. The morning Turkey alarm gobble was fun. Take the time to drive up to the North unit, I'm glad I did, there was so much more to see geologically. TRNP is a true hidden gem that is passed by. Glad I decided to make it part of my Spring trip! Only one "problem" during my stay was someone that obviously didn't know what time zone they were in and stared the generator and hour early. I got a good laugh!

The campground was nice but no dump station is available. Hard to stay too long. For such a nice park, the camping amenities need upgrading.
