Cedar Lake (Oklahoma)

Everything about the campsites were outstanding as usual. Was disappointed that only one of both the toilets and showers were available in the men's bathroom. My friend that was with me sprained his ankle the first night ( so we thought). Turns out he broke it! We had quite a time getting him to the bathrooms to take care of business. Outside of this, Everything was great!

Campground was clean and equestrian trails were well marked and beautiful. I did not want to leave.

While we overall had a good time on a group camp outing, it was due to our inventiveness and camaraderie, not the facilities. I was told just six months from the COVID shutdown that the Group Campsites were being renovated and were not available. We went to a Group site at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge instead. This year we returned to Cedar Lake Recreation Area and found that nothing had been touched in two years. Indeed, a degraded sign on the restroom (chemical toilet)
door said that it was out of order. From the condition of the sign, I'd say it's been out of order for a long time. Three weeks before I had inspected the site and questioned the state of the toilet and was told that we would have to use other restrooms about a ten-minute walk away. Or drive to one. The restroom in the equestrian area was the easiest for us in the daytime, with hot water showers. That was nice. But the commode doors, all of them, latches are broken and are held closed by duct tape.

The last day we hiked into the Kerr Arboretum. It has been abandoned for years. Wooden signage is splitting apart, bridges rotting. That doesn't happen in just a few months. Overall very disappointed in the deteriorating condition of the two areas in which we interacted.

We were camping with our horses. Very clean campgrounds. Nice bathrooms & showers. The campground trash cans were kept clean and the horse poop was picked up every time we made a dump.

Wonderful spot for a family get away.

This is our favorite place to camp and ride. The campsites are good and the grounds are kept up in good condition. The trails have been well maintained and are marked so well. It's so nice to go out on a ride and know you can find your way around and not get lost. I love the "to camp" signs so that you know you're on the right track. Overall, Cedar Lake is the premiere campground for horse camping anywhere in the four states. We travel 252 miles to camp there.

Cedar Lake is a beautiful small campground. We were close to both the bathrooms and the lake so we had a great view of the lake but a short trip to the toilets. It was quiet. The campground was clean and neat.

The camp site are very nice and the trails are very nice.

We came to Cedar Lake to trail ride, the accommodations for horse trailers and horses are wonderful!
This is such a beautiful facility with such a great trails, I was very surprised how few people were there to trail ride over the four days that we rode.
We will definitely be back.

Cedar Lake is the cleanest park we’ve ever been to! We could tell that our lot had been cleaned and prepped for our arrival. We witnessed the entire crew power washing, painting, replacing picnic table tops and benches with new wood, and clearing the walking trails. Beautiful location that we’ve already recommended to friends and on social media.
