Our campsite was across from the bathrooms and parking, so there was some engine noise early/late, but it wasn't too bad. The convenience was worth it. There was a longhorn who camped out by the bathrooms a few nights, so that was fun to see up close. Turkey and deer were frequent visitors to our site. Enjoyed discovering the park.

Our campsite was across from the bathrooms and parking, so there was some engine noise early/late, but it wasn't too bad. The convenience was worth it. Great campground! Highly recommend. Was greeted by a very friendly staff member who answered all my questions and made me feel very welcome. Clean sites with fire rings and picnic tables. I stayed in a primitive site and the bathrooms were very clean and had plenty of toilet paper :)
I went up to little baldy. Gorgeous view and a great observation area. I would recommend boots/long pants due to vegetation and there not being 1 clear path up (no fault of the park/reserve, people just make their own way up enough that there are dozens of paths).

We had a wonderful time out here. The sites are spaced apart well, the facilities were clean, and the available ice and firewood helped a ton. Will be back!

From I-44 take Highway 49 (exit 45). Go west 7 miles to the Refuge gate or 14 miles to the Visitor Center. If coming from Highway 62, take Highway 115 (Cache exit) north to the Refuge Gate.
