Love this park. Close to my house so it’s easy to go primitive quickly. During the week I pretty much have it to myself....if you want the weekend, you better book in advance!

We normally love Heyburn. We've been camping here for well over 25 years. This was the worst experience at the park we've ever had. There is a serious geese problem, especially at Site 23 and at the water. I took my 2 year old grandson down to the swim beach after we arrived, so that he could play with his trucks and wade in the edge with me. 3 geese immediately flew in, got extremely close, beating their wings and snapping at him. I tried shooing them away, but they kept coming closer, as my grandson had just finished a cookie, and still had one in his hand. We finally had to go back to the camper, chased the whole way by angry geese. The next day we were unable to even leave the camper, as the geese stayed around and under it most of the day, since it was a thoroughfare to the campers above us, who were feeding them constantly. If I went out, I could successfully shoo them away, but for some reason they would charge at my grandson as soon as they saw him. Poor guy had to play inside all weekend. When my husband got there Friday evening, our carpet in front of our camper was literally covered in goose excrement, as was the whole area around the camper. We've always loved camping at Heyburn in the Fall, watching the geese, deer, and other wildlife, and getting to relax with family. I think campers may have forgotten that these are wild animals, and have gotten these geese used to being fed, so now they're relying on the humans for non-nutritious food, and causing a health hazard with the amount of excrement they're leaving at the swim beach and sites 22 and 23. They're gorgeous birds, and I love watching them fly in and land on the lake in the morning. However, until the situation is taken care of we will no longer camp there.

Clean and quiet. Exactly what we were looking for. Captured some beautiful sunrise and sunset pics. Friendly geese.

Beautiful lake/camping area, only one site that wasn't large enough for a motor home. Unfortunately, that was the one I had reserved, but was allowed to move due to a cancellation at another site. Front gate personnel was extremely nice and helpful.
Well maintained campsite. We will be back!

The shower/bathroom on the north end of the park felt unsafe to me. With it getting dark earlier, there were no lights around the building and one small light inside which was to cover the restrooms and shower. There was no dressing area bench in the shower. The drain hole in the shower was large and right by the shower and you had to be be careful or you would step right in the hole and possibly fall.
