I'm not sure of the reason, but the dumpsters around the camp site were all overflowing with trash. Other than that issue the camp sites were nice.

Hawthorn Bluff offers a beautiful, well-spaced campground with plenty of shade, lake access, and recreational activities such as fishing and hiking. However, maintenance issues like overflowing trash, bathroom cleanliness, and access to amenities have been noted by several campers. Despite these challenges, many visitors still enjoy their experience and appreciate the park's overall charm and potential for improvement.

It was nice and clean and no one messed with you. People were friendly and when my car broke down I was able to receive help from fellow campers. Even though all I needed to do to fix my car was push a reset button.

Decent sites and hot showers! Trails seemed like they needed a little love, but I think this is more a Natl Patks staffing and budgeting issue in light of recent cuts. 😢

Was very pleasantly surprised with this campground. Quirt, Lots of trees, well spaced camping spots, and lots of great areas to hike and walk along the water. You have to fill up your holding tanks with water since there’s no water at the sites but just a small inconvenience.
