Tall Chief Cove is a well-maintained campground with clean facilities, friendly staff, and beautiful waterfront sites, making it a great spot for relaxation and family fun. Many visitors appreciate the shaded areas, easy access to the lake, and the helpfulness of gate attendant Kathy. While some sites may be narrow and lack sewer hookups, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Site 27 is well shaded and relatively secluded compared to neighboring sites with the trees providing a slight buffer from the wind. It sits just a short walk from either the lake or the restrooms. You will need 100’ of water hose and a splitter to reach the water spigot that is shared with site 24. The private restrooms are very clean, well maintained, and have nice showers.
The biggest downside with this and many of the other sites is that the blacktop pad is narrow with barely enough room for your steps. The drop-off from the blacktop to the ground is a pain.

Site 27 is a nicely shaded, relatively private campsite compared to many of the surrounding sites. The mature trees provide a bit of protection from the wind, and the site is conveniently located within a short walk of both the lake and the restrooms. Although not next to the water, the lake is pleasantly visible through the trees.
To connect to water, you’ll need 100 ft of hose and a tee or splitter, as the water spigot is shared with Site 24. The private restroom facilities are a highlight—clean, well maintained, and equipped with pleasant showers.
The main drawback, which is common throughout much of the campground, is the narrow blacktop pad. There is just enough room for RV steps, and the drop from the pavement to the ground can be inconvenient and awkward to navigate.

Great stay. Enjoyed the new concrete area at A9. So much nicer than it was when we stayed in the same spot last year. Also really enjoyed the attendant. I didn’t catch her name but she was a delight.
