Crane Prairie Campground is highly praised for its beautiful scenery, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Campers enjoyed the spacious sites, access to the lake for activities like fishing and kayaking, and the peaceful atmosphere. However, some issues were noted, including mosquitoes, occasional noise from generators, and recent problems with the availability of drinking water, which could impact the overall experience.

Beautiful! But the MOSQUITOES are not to be trifled with. We were eaten alive over night. That said, in the morning, an incredible mist comes off the golden lake.

We really loved our spot. We had site 67. It was very roomy. It was near the toilets which isn't too bad when you have little ones. The toilets did have a horrible smell too them, more so than any other I have experienced. The mosquitoes were horrible. Some of our party ended up with a bacterial infection around some mosquitoe bites.

The weather was hot and perfect! It is a beautiful location and the lake was amazing. The only down side is the out break of Thatch Ants. They are everywhere and you can’t do any bank fishing without being attacked. They aren’t poisonous but they bite like hell and release formica that can give you blisters if not washed off immediately. My poor dog was attacked by about 50 of them and it took me awhile to pull them all off of him. They have nests covering the entire camp ground.

Campground had lots of thatch ants (mounds everywhere) and thousands of mosquitoes. I got 80+ mosquito bites the two nights we stayed there.

Absolutely beautiful!!!! Sites are well maintained, and facilities are maintained fairly well. Camp store has wood and ice as well as other items, and you can rent kayaks as well!
Yes, there are ants Absolutely everywhere mid day to late evening, but they didn't bother us at all and seemed to dissappear when the temps were a little cooler.

It would have been better if they had mentioned that there was a start of an algae bloom. There were two dogs that I heard of that were sick in Bend Oregon from Crane Prairie. It would be nice to have been advised because my dogs were there the same time.

The pit toilets were unbearably smelly and campsite was extremely dusty. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and fishing at the lake.

The lake is nice, but there are lot’s of ants and mosquitoes at the campground. The scenery is beautiful, the facilities are OK. There is a marina nearby where you can rent boats and kayaks.
