What Guests Are Saying

French Pete Campground is a beautiful and secluded location, well-maintained with friendly hosts. Campsites are clean, spacious, and often located near the river, providing a peaceful atmosphere for campers. While there may be some limitations like lack of cell service and recent burn areas affecting hiking trails, most visitors express a strong desire to return.

This is a really out of the way campground that was very quiet mid-week. The site we stayed in (#15) was smaller than I would have liked, but it had access to a private little river spot and we ended up hanging out there for a lot of our stay. The site was not level and was pretty rocky so our tent was less comfortable than it usually is, so keep that in mind. The sites in general are not very private, but some are covered more than others. Site #9 was VERY small and I noted that I would not want to camp there unless I was in a van or camper. Site #2 was big and beautiful with a great view of the river, but you are right next to the camp host and out in the open so there's a fair amount of traffic. Sites #7 and #13 were tucked away, though fairly close to their neighbors. Site #16 is small with little privacy, but directly on the river. Site #17 is nice with river views. The bathrooms were my least favorite, as the one nearest to our site would be FULL of flies at times. The first time I opened it, the buzzing was so loud it startled me. I left the door open for a while and they seemed to clear out for the rest of the day. All of the bathrooms were pretty stinky and masks are required inside due to COVID-19. Other than the smell and the flies, the bathrooms were pretty clean.

We absolutely LOVE French Pete. Our favorite camping is in smaller quiet campgrounds, with minimal amenities. The sound of the flowing water, and the peaceful sound of very few humans...always makes for a perfectly relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Vault toilets are very well maintained, the campsites are all fairly large and a nice combination of shade and sun at each. There are water pumps, but we tend to pack in our own water from home for the trip. Camp host was very helpful and kind. One of our favorite places to camp.

We had a double site on the creek. It was beautiful, quiet and semi-private. There are a lot of great activities in the area for swimming and hiking. We are looking forward to going back!
