About Limberlost Campground

After a fun filled day exploring the area, relax and fall asleep to the sound of the babbling Lost Creek at this secluded and quiet Group site that's made up of 12 sites. Towering Douglas fir and cedar trees surround this small, rustic and compact campground. The campground’s name was derived from "Girl of the Limberlost," a classic novel by American writer and naturalist, Gene Stratton-Porter. The campground offers vault toilets and garbage service. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. There is no drinking water available at the campground. Firewood is available at Olallie Campground. Hikers, swimmers, and anglers alike will delight with nearby Three Sisters Wilderness Area, Mt. Washington Wilderness, and Lost Creek. Those interested in relaxing will enjoy a soak in nearby Belknap Hot Springs. If you have an interest in biking, several trails outside of the Wilderness areas are available.

What Guests Are Saying

Limberlost Campground is a lovely, quiet, and clean facility, well-stocked with essentials. However, restrooms were not cleaned during the three-night stay, and lack of signage for the reservation-only group site led to some confusion with visitors. Overall, it offers a great experience, especially before the highway snow gates open, with ample space for group activities.

Small, forested, shady campground but sites are closer together than many other NFS campgrounds. Nice to go to sleep at night listening to the river next to my site. Note that there is no potable water supply at this campground.

Beautiful campground -- was very quiet and peaceful, with about half the sites filled.

Some sites are closer to each other than others; they generally feel private, however this would not be the case if the campground were full.

Pit toilets were clean, well maintained, and smelled about as good as one could expect.

If you have a trailer over 15 feet don’t bother. No way in with a 27ft and no way out. Unable to get ahold of anyone and canceling (which Rec.gov wouldn’t even let me do ) resulted in 4.00 back. It was a completely wasted drive. If we had been able to fit looks like it was a nice place. Plan to tent camp if you are interested.

Nice small campground on lost creek, a large creek which is definitely fly fish able. Some of the sites would not fit my truck and camper. 10 and 11 are probly the best. Site 1 is great for a tent site. This campground is a great base camp for McKenzie river adventures

AWESOME CAMPGROUND!!
Do NOT book site 3 though. Literally every other site is perfect. Number 3 has some sort of pipe from the restrooms (gross) and with the fire ring and picnic table .. it leaves basically zero space for anything else because you don’t want your tent anywhere near the disgusting gooey looking pipe.. which also SMELLS all the time.
Will book this spot again but now I know! Not #3 lol

Wonderful campground in old-growth western-Cascades forest (Douglas Fir, western Hemlock, western redcedar). Lots of privacy and quiet spots. Site #10 is a very private place. I had neighboring #9 and it was very beautiful and right by the river. Clean privy and clean Dumpster. Campground well maintained. Would spend more time here if I could.

Super awesome campground, the space between the tent was enough that felt private. The location was fabulous and accessible to the blue pool and clear lake
