Have to say the Camp Host for this location is a round peg in a round hole....what a great guy....there to help at anytime even when he seemed to be off duty. Definitely an asset to Sand Lake Dunes

This park is gorgeous. There are lots of trees and the sites are spacious. We were there for only one night to check out the park and we came in a 35 ft motorhome with no tow behind. We arrived on a Sunday in later September after the bulk of campers left so it was mostly serene. There are no hookups and no Verizon cell service/internet. Also, because of that, you need to make sure you book your reservation BEFORE you arrive. Also, it would be wise to print your confirmation or take a screenshot so you have proof that you paid for your spot. Other than that, it was perfect!

pictures of the sight were very deceiving, no fire ring ,no flat spot for tent ,no quiet time at all . I will never stay in the east camping lot ever again .

We didn't realize that our spot was in the middle of the parking and staging area for dune vehicles. Very noisy night.

Loved camping there though it looked like our campsite wasn't cleaned up before we got there. Lots of garbage left all over our site.

This was the most unique camps I have ever been to. I want to start with the positives because there are some. The permanent bathroom was very clean and nice (except there was no soap but that’s okay). Walking on the beach and the sunset views was so spectacular. Every single person in the camp was off-roading, so it felt like I had my own private beach once I walked on the beach beyond the atv area. It was definitely so good that I was able to live with the negatives.
The negatives were not great. There are a lot of very loud people. There was so much trash lying around. There is so many loud atvs that went on for much longer beyond quiet hours. Also many people with generators running way late into the night. The walk to the beach is definitely risky and it felt like I had to survive mad max every time I wanted to go to the beach. It seemed many people don’t care to follow the rules of the camp and that’s maybe because no one does anything about it. Once I saw the crowd that surrounded me, I knew it was going to be a very inconsiderate one.
If you value sleep and only want uninterrupted time with the sounds of nature, I would heavily avoid camping here. If sunsets are your favorite, it may be worth it. Otherwise I could really only recommend this for day use.
