Hebo Lake Campground

No showers. No running water. No problem for my family! Camp host keeps things immaculate and the trout we caught was tasty. Will visit again.

We had a great time at Hebo Lake! The campsite was great, we caught a lot of trout and the bathrooms were clean.

Very nice and very quiet. The frogs are amazing at night. They are like an orchestra.

We really loved the lake, and doing a little bit of fishing. It was raining all weekend, so we were really happy that there was a covered area with a fireplace where we kept a fire all day long and stayed warm. Highly recommend this beautiful space!

Shortly after arrival and camp set up, the occupant of close neighbor campsite 6 turned on his generator (strapped outside on the bumper of his old broken window short school bus remodeled into a residence) and for the next five and a half hours, sent high decibel generator noise into five occupied campsites, disrupting their peaceful afternoon and evening. The generator's racket was loud at the picnic tables of the Group Shelter, campsites 3, 4, 5, 6 (the school bus), 7 (me), and 8. Unacceptable policy to enable and support one inconsiderate generator equipped camper to disrupt and disturb that many non-generator campers who seek out Hebo Campground for it's absence of electrical connections and look forward to a quiet camp stay in the forest amid wildlife. I know that some national campsites/forests restrict access to generators, and time for Suislaw Forest /Hebo Campground to do that too.

We love this campsite, and have for many years! Our most recent trip was poor due to a large group of children camping and fishing with their families. These kids were screaming constantly at the fishing platforms, starting at 8:30am. The parents did nothing and the new camp host was nowhere to be seen. We actually left a night early because of the noise.

We stayed in site 05, which was a delightfully fully enclosed by trees site. We couldn't see the other sites, however the parking for 4, 5, and 6 are very tight, so we ended up double parking our cars. The lake itself is small but absolutely brimming with critters- we caught newts, watched a bald eagle catch a fish, and listened to what I think is possibly the entire state of Oregon's breeding frog population ribbitting their little hearts out at night. Loud, but added a great charm to the site. There's a little .5 mi trail around the lake, which was a nice after dinner walk. The lake also has a trailhead for a longer hike, which we did about 4 mi of and it was a lot of cool ferns and trees.
Bathrooms were decently clean, parking was a bit tight, but overall I would absolutely recommend this campground. It's also only 30 mins to the coast! Had a wonderful time!
