What Guests Are Saying
Hebo Lake Campground is a beautiful and tranquil location, praised for its clean facilities, friendly hosts, and stunning natural surroundings, including good fishing opportunities and wildlife sightings. Many campers enjoyed spacious and private sites, particularly sites #4 and #7, and appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained trails. However, some noted challenges with the reservation process, litter from day users, and occasional noise from other campers, but overall, the campground is regarded as a hidden gem worth visiting.

We loved this location. The campsites are clean and well maintained and the site is quiet. The bathrooms are the usual pit toilets with no sink to wash hands but the hosts thoughtfully provided some hand sanitizer which was nice. There is only one hiking trail out but it's long and very beautiful. Not a lot of sites but they are relatively private and everyone was quiet.

This was our first time camping here and it was also on Memorial Weekend. The site was clean on arrival with a picnic table & fire ring. On one side of the table, the sitting bench was taped off for repairs, which didn't bother us at all because we used it for other stuff. This site is right across of the restrooms (which were always clean and didn't smell). Keep in mind, this is not so much of a private site. The picnic shelter is nearby but thankfully it was not in use while we were there.
We would definitely return, as the hosts there were very nice and did a good job in maintaining the place.

We are fairly experienced campers so we are familiar with the in's and out's of camping reservations and associated manners.
I hate to be the one that doesn't give this place 5 stars -- maybe I went on an "off" weekend. At any rate, the dog situation here was out of control. Nearly every site had an off leash dog making it impossible to walk the half mile loop around the lake; I mean, some folx didn't even have leashes at all. Heck, even the host had an off leash dog. Our dog is now dog reactive if approached by a dog after being attacked 4x by off leash dogs. We have his behavior under control but off leash dogs are not something we can control. We are very intentional in choosing our campsites to only choose facilities were leashes are required.
We expect some sort of commotion, after all, we aren't booking a private campground. But the small dogs that barked non stop and the talking at all hours of the day made for an impossible-to-relax weekend. Despite my wife's love of fishing, she wouldn't even fish due to the noise and commotion.
Unfortunately, we won't be back to this location.

Very well-maintained by attentive camp host. Gets a lot of people coming in to fish for the day, but stays relatively quiet at the site we stayed at. Tent pad was pretty rocky. Bring a hammer for stakes and sleeping pad for yourself.

We absolutely loved this campground. The camp hosts were amazing and very friendly. The restrooms were by far the cleanest and best smelling vault toilets we have ever seen. The lake was small but very nice, we had fun catching fish and newts. We also went out at nite to look for the frogs that we could hear and had fun walking around the lake. In the mornings and evenings, we could see a rabbit around camp, and during the day we saw chipmunks and stellar jays. Overall we had so much fun we didn't want to leave. Next year we will be staying longer.

Very quiet and tranquil on a weekday. Great camp host. The site is on a large open area with a grill shelter. If the campground is empty, I guess you can drive around the lake and find a more private first-come site. But when there are no people, it feels like the entire lake is just for you. Make sure to drive up the mountain top.

Camp hosts, Tom and Joan, were wonderful! Their extra touches could be seen, and smelled, in the vault restrooms. I was impressed with how well the trail was cleared since the last time I hiked there, the trail was quite overgrown.

Very sketchy campground. Grass was waist high. Parking pads very uneven. I didn't stay. Moved on down the road.

It was so peaceful minus the fact we decided to go when there was huge lightening and thunder storm lol !
The lake is gorgeous, the trails are fun and beautiful to walk! Tons of cute little creatures! They had a play area set up for families! ❤️ 10/10 would recommend and will be coming here again in nicer weather!

Didn't realize in the fine print it was not a campsite, just the picnic area rental. The people there said it happens a lot. Should be in larger print to be clear.
