This should be advertised as being in a dark sky sanctuary. We were there for a new moon and holy sh… cow! It was worth the timing. Fremont-Winema NF, well kept cabin, have a bit more comprehensive “handy dandy” info available on site but otherwise I have no complaints.

Secluded while easy to find. Three cots, 4 chairs at a table, a kitchen counter, a sink with drain for your waste water, a wood stove, and two mice. Outside a nice picnic table and like new pit toilet.

Spent a night here before moving onto Drake Peak above. The access is beautiful and paved well, lots of creeks and runoffs nearby that we walked to, watched the cattle grazing the meadow. Very peaceful and very little passing traffic. 2 comfortable cots, a good size table, and a decent amount of counter space. We didn’t cook here but brought burritos from Lakeview up and had them over the fire outside to keep it easy being there is no Stove/Oven. You likely could cook on the wood burning stove inside if you wished. Restroom is very well kept, hatchet outside for wood splitting. Lots of firewood kept inside. A little dusty but a quick wipe down upon arrival shined it right up. Would recommend.

Probably my favorite place I camped on a recent Oregon road trip that took us to 5 different campgrounds. It’s a very basic cabin, small with no electricity or running water in a very remote area. But this cabin was a little slice of heaven for me and my partner. We will 100% be back in the future.

Quiet. Peaceful. Dark skies. Lots of birds including a nest with eggs right on the front of the cabin. Drake Peak and Lookout were stunning.

The cabin is very cozy, we did have to do a deep clean of the hard surfaces before use. The mouse poop was all over, but that was expected so not a big deal we were prepared. The only complaint I have it all is regarding fire restrictions. It was not spelled out if we could use the wood stove because of it being fire season. The restrictions were not spelled out very clearly. We had to drive to cell service for clarification, and the district office was not sure either. But we figured it out and had a nice warm stay.
I am a professional firefighter by trade and i would also suggest the fire extinguisher be mounted and visible for future renters. I had my own and did not find the one supplied in the cabin until the day we left. It was under the kitchen sink.
If you are looking for a pristine clean 5 star cabin this is probably not for you, but if you don't mind a little rustic quite place in the mountains you will love this cabin. We certainly did and will rent it again in the future. Also the bathroom is way better than we expected, for an outhouse style bathroom it was very clean and well maintained.

Location beautiful
Sound of birds and steam so peaceful
Cabin mice infestation not so much
Unfortunately that put bummer on my time there and left early
If that could be addressed I’d be back for sure

Loed the location. The road in wasn't too bad. Nice, relaxing environment. The outdoor facilities were excellent. We spent a lot of time gathered around the outdoor fire pit and playing near the little creek.

I had a great time at this cabin plenty of room, all kitchen utensils you need came in very handy, all you need to bring is water and a stove to cook with and your set. Can't wait for next year going to probably stay again.
