Such a beautiful location! Very clean and well stocked with wood. Having the gas stove was a major plus.

This place will always have my heart! We pulled a sled up with unnecessary gear + water from the snopark. Didn't see a soul the entire trip. Hank (our pup) was afraid of the stairs at first (they do get steep/short towards the top) but braved up so we only had to carry him down the first time 😂 The lock is a little tricky but you'll get it if you play with it a bit. Very well equipped w/ supplies, especially in terms of cookware. Stove top worked great. Cute string lights in the ceiling. Would recommend not loading up the basket to the max with wood unless you want to get ripped. Shed full of wood - read the signs to make sure you're snagging the dry stuff. Would recommend bringing a large blanket as a separator from the mattress and yourself if you can swing it. Cell service is good with AT&T and Verizon so airplane mode works great if you want to pretend you're off the grid.
The entire surrounding area is gorgeous, with views of Hood, Adams, and even Rainier on a clear day. I proposed to my gf on the lookout's deck as we watched the sun set down behind the mountain. Celebrated w/ wine and Mountain House (she's a keeper) and froze our fannies off shooting the stars. This lookout is absolutely magical and I'm absolutely biased ;) The best front porches on the planet are on this website

Nice stop for lunch at Kramer's market in Dufur and then out to the Billy Bob Snopark. Nice snowshoe up to the lookout. Took the trail up and the road for the return. Lookout was cozy.

Spent two nights. Snow shoed up the trail from Billy Bob Snopark. Snow and a bit of rain. But the final night the stars came out and in the morning we could see Mt Hood, Mt Adams and Mt Rainier, as well as the fog over the Columbia Gorge. Wonderful. Cabin is in excellent condition. The best lookout we've experienced in Oregon.

From Dufur, Oregon, travel west on Valley Road for about 18 miles to the junction of Forest Service Roads 44 and 4430, at Billy Bob Sno-Park (the road may be plowed to the Sno-Park). Turn right on Forest Service Road 4430-120, then turn left and follow to the spur road 122. There is a gate that you will have to unlock (in winter months the gate is left open), then follow the 122 road to the end. The route is approximately 3 miles and is marked with orange and blue diamond shaped blazers. This route is not plowed, signed or patrolled.
Forest Service Roads 44 and 4430 are closed from the junction of Forest Service Roads 44/4430 to Highway 35, from Dec. 1st through April 1st, prohibiting motorized vehicles over 48 inches wide without a permit. During this time and later into the year depending on snow levels, visitors should park at Billy Bob Sno-Park and hike, ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile 3 miles to the lookout. A Northwest Forest Pass is required park at the Sno-Park. Maps are available online or for purchase by calling the Barlow Ranger District.
The nearest major road is Highway 35, which is approximately 18 miles from the junction of Forest Service Roads 44 and 4430.
