Sherwood Campground provided a beautiful setting for a camp trip. The small campground had well sized campsites. I stayed at site 15. Setting my tent on the clearing to the left side of the table provided a flat ground, and the perfect sounds of the river as I slept.
The bathroom was kept clean; one of the best pit toilet bathrooms I have used.

This campground is a great location to access amazing hikes on Mount Hood. However, you can hear the highway, even at sites right next to the river, which was disappointing. There is also no water available at this site, which was not clear to me when I made the reservation or when I received a reminder email. This fact needs to be highlighted much more prominently. You must bring any water you need for drinking, cooking, etc. or plan to boil water from the river for all your needs.

This is a quiet little campground and this spot is right next to the river making for a relaxing evening of rest despite being right next to the highway. The trail to Tamanawa falls is within walking distance. Pit toilets were clean. We met Steve (I think that is his name), the campground attendant and he was very friendly.

The campground is right next to the highway, so keep that in mind. Very old vault toilets and garbage cans- I couldn't get the lid off of one. I was in Site #15, which is fairly close to the river but has no shade whatsoever. It was a hot day, and I was the only one there for most of the afternoon. The whole place was extremely dry and felt remote. Site #5 is the best choice, as it's near the river and has good shade for vehicles. I ended up leaving before sundown.

Really enjoyed this campground! I agree though it is a bit pricey for no potable water and a vault toilet but I loved the location and the river running next to the campground made it 5/5!

Located right off the highway there is traffic noise. It is a lovely spot with the river there. However, we did not appreciate being RIGHT in front of the bathroom...only feet in front of it!!!! That spot should NOT be a campsite!!!

If you can get one of the sites along the water, you can't tell that you're so close to Hwy 35 and hear no traffic. it was surprisingly more tranquil than we expected!

Very well maintained campgrounds right by the creek. Our site specifically isn't ideal for two cars, especially one with a rooftop tent. We parked one of the cars in an undesignated parking spot because it was the only flat ground but ended up having to move it due to the rules. Camp host Steve was super kind and accommodating with explaining the rules and helping us get our cars set up. A little confused why rec.gov didn't add the additional vehicle fee onto the order when I booked the spot, or didn't give any information that I would need to pay for the additional vehicle when we arrived (I assumed I already paid because I selected 2 vehicles) Camp host Steve was great and cut us a break for that. I would definitely stay here again but perhaps a different spot and choose to bring the tent not the rooftop tent!

nice campground. our campsite was along the stream in the back which was very nice. Privies are reasonably clean. You can walk to the nearby waterfall trail.

From I-84 at Hood River, head south on highway 35 toward Mt. Hood. Just past the Tamanawas Falls trailhead parking, the Sherwood Campground is on the right.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
