Sherwood Campground offers a beautiful setting along the river with easy access to nearby trails and a pleasant atmosphere. Campsites are well-maintained, and the bathrooms are reasonably clean, making it suitable for short stays. Beautiful camping right in the river. Easy access, right off from highway 35. No road noise really heard with sites on the riverside. Vault toilet and no running water.

I thought the campground itself was fine. But was annoyed by the forest service people. 2 different old guys checked in on us to make sure we had our site reserved (which we did) but they didn’t communicate with each other and one of the guys threatened to give our site away bc we left during the day to go biking. It was kind of a mess and frustrating because we had our site reserved and followed all the rules. They just weren’t communicating amongst each other

The campground is close to trails but is very near a major road and offers very limited privacy from site to site. Nice for a short stay of a day or 2 though.

We were at site 6 next to the river so the sound isn't bad from the highway at night. Bathrooms were clean and area was well maintained. There is a berm between the campsite and the river, so you're not looking directly at the river from the campsite, but you can sit up on the berm with a chair. The river is for looking, not really easily accessible for playing in the water at the campsite. The area where the tent is set or picnic table is sunny during midday and afternoon.
The hike nearby was great, but there are areas where you need to climb on rocks. It was challenging with two 3 year old that don't do a lot of hiking, but not unattainable. At the beginning of the hike, there is a location where adventurous people could get in the water, where it's fast moving, but reasonably shallow. I would not recommend getting in with kids.

Excellent and well kept small campground. Sites closer to the river would be ideal as the road is closed. We were in the middle and the road noise didn't bother us. Great location and great sites all around.

Small campground located between highway 35 and the East Fork of the Hood River, close to Tamanawas Falls. Lots of tall pine trees for shade, pretty clean, vault toilet didn't smell. The site I stayed at appeared to have very little room to put a tent, not so much a problem for me (solo camper) but could be an issue for a larger group/tent. The biggest problem is the proximity to the highway, because around 5am logging trucks started rolling down the road, engine braking to modulate their speed. This was not occasional but every 5 minutes or so...very annoying. Other than the trucks barely heard any other traffic due to the white noise of the river rushing by. I camped on a weekday so possibly the trucks wouldn't be such an issue on the weekend.

Campsite 14 was good where we were, but the other sites are tight by the road and not a lot of privacy. The pit toilets were in horrible shape when we were there, but it could have been because it was a busy time of year.
