About Tilly Jane A-frame

The Tilly Jane A-Frame is an ideal getaway for individuals, groups and families who enjoy the great outdoors in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The facility is one of the oldest structures on Mt. Hood and is a popular cabin used by winter recreationists. Peak season for use of the cabin is usually November through June.. It provides access to scenic terrain, specifically hiking, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing activities. During the summer months (usually July-September) the A-Frame is easily accessed by taking a short quarter mile walk through the Tilly Jane Campground. During the winter months ( October-June), it serves as a winter retreat for persons hardy enough to make the effort to get to the cabin from the Tilly Jane Sno-Park. Winter conditions often exist for nine months of the year. Visitors can ski to the cabin following a 9 mile gently sloping road or climb the historic Tilly Jane ski trail which is roughly 2.7 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,900 feet. Skis or snowshoes are highly recommended! Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety. Backcountry travel experience is highly recommended.

Very cute place to stay. Cozy fire with lots of wood provided. We did see a very fat rat upstairs so keep your food and TP secure.

This is such a fantastic spot to stay for a night or two, especially in the winter when the trek up keeps the crowds to a minimum. You could easily spend a few days here without crossing paths with more than a handful of other hikers—unless it's the weekend, of course. If you're just passing through, it's always a warm and welcoming place to stop, rest, and maybe swap a few trail stories over some snacks. Perfect for anyone seeking peace and solitude.

Gorgeous little spot. I had no idea you could reserve the A frame. It's a bit sad they had to lock it down due to vandalism. Highly recommend taking the Tilly Jane Trail 600A to the shelter for magnificent views into Polallie Creek

Cozy, lots of room, lots of places to hang wet clothes and gear, darling little veranda on the second floor, best backwoods bathroom I've ever used. The firewood stove is a true delight, providing warmth and beauty and ambience. Step ladder to the loft above. Mice or rats are definitely a problem, but lots of hooks to hang your food and a steel locker that worked great! Outdoor picnic tables. Stream for filtering water. Excellent Basecamp for climbing Hood via Cooper Spur.

Such a fun place to stay for a night or two, especially in the winter when the trek up makes traffic very light. Could easily go a couple of days without meeting more than a couple other hikers, except on weekends. If you're just passing through, it's always a welcoming place to warm up and possibly share some snacks and trail stories.
