There were fires so we never could go to camp. Our frustration was that you would never tell us until the day of our stay that it was advised not to come, You never reached out to tell us it was cancelled, in fact you sent daily reminders that our camp was soon to start. The day of you said the road was closed and not to come. Each day your emails wanted US to cancel so you didn't need to give full refund. Even though you closed the camp ground, you've still never reached out to us to refund us. We had paid for 5 separate sites plus the small yurt for 3 nights, we feel you have been extremely dishonest with us.

Due to wildfires, the campground was closed. We are yet to be reimbursed for our reservation.
One would think that it would be a fast resolve to return our money based on the computerized system and additional $8 fee that takes our money.

We arrived at Anthony Lakes and the campground was closed due to the fires. It would have been helpful if recreation.gov would have provided some notice.

I received an email saying it was on fire and don't come - we did as instructed. I expect a full refund with no service fees associated

Well kept and lovely campground, but sadly we were evacuated within an hour of paying for a three night stay, due to local fire activity and road closure. Will have to make another trip in the fall. The reservation system is very clunky, the campground host seemed completely unaware of the pending fire risk, but the campground seemed to be lovely, and vault toilets were immaculate.

Everything about this place is magical…. Except the bugs. Butterflies? Super cool and added lots of whimsy to the experience. The mosquitoes though? From a nightmare. PACK LONG SLEEVES AND PANTS. It’s a necessity. Other than the bugs, this place checks all the boxes! Love it!!! Can’t wait to come back.

I didn't expect luxury by any means, but when the description said that there were (very) basic cooking supplies such as a pan or two and very basic utensils, there were none.
I also did not expect to have to clean up someone else's mess. Dog hair everywhere, windows in the door looked as if someone had rubbed greasy hands all over them, floors hadn't been swept in a while. Like I said, I did not expect perfection but for about 100 bucks a night, maybe a quick sweeping and some Windex.
Never saw the camp host, finally found him at his camp after 3 or 4 tries to get firewood.
The yurt itself was great and the location and views were amazing, but some basic attention would go a long way.
If you stay here... bring cooking supplies and an air mattress.

Anthony Lakes Recreation area is one of my favorite places to camp, hike, fish or just spend the day. The camp ground provides enough privacy between camo sites that you can do your own thing without disturbing anyone. The fishing is always great and the hiking is an experience that is hard to explain. It's always beautiful. If you want to camp, I highly recommend making reservations as soon as you plan to stay in the primary camp site.
