Waldo Lake is our favorite place to camp and kayak. However, the bathrooms remain in dire need of maintenance. They were very clean but the stench is unbearable.
The camp hosts were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful.

Our campsite was great. I did not realize upon booking that it was a double site. The site was nicely tucked away by the lake. It was perfectly clean and more than we could ask for. I would maybe remove one of the cement blocks that is used for parking because when we got in at night we drove over it and got the car stuck on it. Other than that, remember to bring bug spray kids! Gorgeous camp area with a gorgeous lake.

Waldo is a beautiful area, we’ve been going for years. Be advised this year and last there has been no potable water at Shadow Bay. You can drive 10 mins to Islet and get water there if needed.

Park hosts were amazing. We left a necklace there, they went out of their way to contact us and send it back! Park was clean. We love waldo and this is our new favorite place to stay!

The mosquitoes were horrible!! I can’t necessarily blame the campsite for it, however it would’ve been nice to have a warning that they were so many swamps next to the campsites.
Also, there was no potable water. We were not informed about this. In fact, the website that I checked several times, said there was potable water there.
The signage within the campsite was not very easy to navigate. I got lost on a few loops. A handout map would’ve been great, because of course, I did not have Internet connectivity to look it up.
The lake was beautiful and everything it promised. The camp hosts were super nice and genuine. However, they could’ve used a bit of help since it was so busy. Maybe more campsite hosts available? I hope their mosquito bites weren’t as bad as mine.
And, what is with the 1 hour in between check out and check in? That’s not fair to anyone!
Honestly, will never camp there again.

It was not communicated in advance that there wasn’t running water @ Shadow Bay, that the well was still under repair (last year, there was info posted on the website, and with reservation reminder emails). To drive 7 miles to get water refills is a real inconvenience when not prepared for that scenario.

Waldo Lake is a distinct favorite of ours but the Shadow Bay campground is in dire need of a clean-up. Many trees have been taken down for safety reasons I'm sure, but the log sections and brush/limbs have been left and create an unsightly mess. Our campsite had log pieces lining one side of the parking area as well as a mess of fallen tree debris bordering the campsite. It is way more work than can be accomplished by the camp host. Our friends who were tent camping said the bathrooms were in a reasonable condition, but it does not appear the composting toilets are really working. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The mosquitos were horrendous.

We had a blast paddling around the lake and stopping at the small islands.

We went in mid-September and there were no mosquitoes. The weather was definitely starting to change as we were all in tank tops/summer clothes on one day, then puffy coats the next, so be prepared! The campground was mostly empty and quiet. Facilities were well-maintained and access to the water was easy. There is a nice trail that goes around the perimeter that serves as a great hike/walk with some amazing views and also provides access to the shore. Campground host was very amenable and knowledgeable. We had a great time!
