What Guests Are Saying
Carter Lake campground offers a clean, quiet, and well-managed environment with helpful hosts, making it a popular choice for families and experienced campers. Many enjoy the beautiful, private sites near the lake, great fishing opportunities, and well-maintained facilities, including bathrooms. However, some guests have reported issues with noise from neighboring campers and the need for better litter management, but overall, visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and natural beauty of the area.

Carter Lake campground has been our favorite for many years. We enjoy this smaller campground with a private beach (at our favorite campsite) for swimming. Also enjoying hiking, taking photographs and biking. For observing wildlife, we would get up before sunrise and drive 1/4 mi to Siltcoos recreational area. Over the years we were lucky to see foxes, coyotes, racoons, beavers, river otters (rare), ospreys, bald eagles, kingfishers, blue herons, many ducks, and one time - 3 mountain lion cubs when they were still very small (size of a house cat) - certainly once in a lifetime amazing experience. One time, I saw a black bear not far from the campground.

A great campground to stay for fun on the lake, the lake beach, the sand dunes from the campsites, and spacious sites. Carter Lake campground also makes a great base camp to explore the central OR coast.

Experienced camper at Carter Lake. Familiar with most site locations. Arrived around 3:30 pm and picked up litter on campsite. Looked like previous campers had a dog. Stepped in something soft and sticky when setting up camp. Putting poor rating to get attention. After I picked up, it was ok after getting settled. I don't want to blame the camp host. I could have arrived soon after previous campers left. Might need a sign to clean up before leaving. Thank you.

Had a great time camping here for 1 night. Our campsite #2 was great! Bathrooms were well maintained and access to the little lake was easy to walk to.
