There were geese droppings on beach in swim area. Glad I wasn't there to swim.

Really love staying here every time, but you need to bring a good bit of water for just about everything. Including washing your hands. Still absolute love it though!

Too spendy for what you get. They provide you flushing toilets, yet no running water in the sinks to wash your hands. They donβt even fill the hand sanitizer thing thatβs hanging on the wall. The nearest bathroom wasnβt open. The host was there but had his sign closed the whole time. The price should have been about $10-$15.

So much to like about this campground friendly helpful staff, lake is lovely. However no water for anything other than flushing toilets for the second year in a row. Itβs ridiculous. I dont mind underdeveloped camping sites but having to pay full price when have the features do not work is unacceptable

Beautiful campground, large and private sites, easy access to the lake, friendly rangers. It gets busy on the weekends, but because most of the activity is on the lake and in the day use area, it's away from the campground. It is super quiet during the week. Rated 4 stars only because it currently lacks potable water (expected to be corrected by Summer 2025). Definitely plan to stay there again!

From I-5 in Oregon, take the Drain Exit (#162) south of Cottage Grove. Travel 43 miles west on OR-38 W to Loon Lake Road, 4 miles west of Scottsburg.
From US HWY 101 in Reedsport, travel 13 miles east on OR-38 E to Loon Lake Road.
Watch for Loon Lake Recreation Site sign on OR-38 between mileposts 13 and 14.
Turn south onto Loon Lake Road, then travel 7 miles to the recreation site. When you come onto the Loon Lake Recreation Site sign on your left, the entrance is to the right, between the large boulders.

- Contact the entrance station for questions during the operating season, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

- Loon Lake Recreation Site is open from Memorial Day weekend until September 30th.
Pets
- Pets are allowed, must be leashed, and cannot enter the designated swim area.
Vehicles & parking
- Day Use area is open, but overnight parking is not allowed.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires are allowed in designated areas and propane is always permitted.
- Firewood is not available during the season due to limitations.
Site types & loops
- Loon Lake Recreation Site does not provide RV hookups, dump station, or shower/laundry facilities.

- A Senior or Access Interagency Pass provides a discount on camping fees for single-capacity campsites.

- Potable water is available throughout the campground, but it's recommended to bring your own hand sanitizer and soap.
