There is no running water at the restroom faucets, but the toilets flush. The hand sanitizer in the restrooms was empty (ugh)!
The campsite driveway was uneven.

Wonderful staff, very clean restrooms (no running water in sinks, toilets only), easy to navigate campsite and safe! We were really happy with our stay. We prefer the BLM side over the private camping ground/sites because those are stacked on top of one another. The BLM side is further apart with a little more privacy.

Had so much fun! Staff was super nice, lake was beautiful and the stars were gorgeous at night. We loved the fact that we can bring our pets. Only downside is there is no potable water but we did our research and were able to prepare for the ahead of time. Theres also a grocery store not too far away if you really need something.

Really wish that people would cancel their reservations if they don’t want it .
There are no first come first sights at this campground anymore !
Even the tent meadows is reservable . Things have changed so much over the past 30 years. It’s very frustrating.
You used to lose your reservation if you didn’t contact the campground by the second day .
Sights sit unoccupied but unavailable.
There NEEDS to be a means to make phone calls back home !!!!!
We really miss the pay phone they removed !!!

My favorite camping spot in Oregon. However our campsite neighbors had one of this generators that is used in workshops, much louder than the ones used by RVs normally.
It was so loud and they’d leave it running for hours! We could hear it down by the lake. It made eating at our campsite awful. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my family. Rangers were clearly annoyed by it too but said they couldn’t do anything.
It would get turned on right when quiet time ended and then be turned off at the start (10:00-7:00). I’ve never been around such inconsiderate people while camping.
I hope the policy around noises change to consider items like generators exceeding a certain decibel limit.

Take plenty of water as they have shut it off except for toilet flushing in the brick bathrooms. Fishing was fantastic as they must have restocked the lake. The rangers are great.

The lack of garbage cans in the day use area is concerning. Last summer people did not pack garbage out and I never saw any employees cleaning up so I spent every morning of my camp trip cleaning up tons of trash and bottles and cans left behind .
The reservation system needs to go back to the way it used to be years ago .
If you no show on the second day of your reservation- your site used to become available for first come first serve .
So many sites sit reserved and paid for but unoccupied.
The park employees need to lighten up the rules about leaving our belongings on the land next to our boats overnight.
They say it’s because of theft . This is so illogical. We can leave our campsite unattended during the day when we play down at the lake - our things could get stolen at the campsite just the same .
Other than that - we will be back for 3 more trips to Loon Lake as we create family memories for the 30th year .

Awesome old growth trees which helped making camping in a light rain very manageable. Barely even got wet

This was a nice site. There is a separate pretty private area to put a tent. Stairs down to the bathroom are very close (pro or con, depending on how you look at it). The bathroom is just below the tent area, and it does has a light on all night. This didn’t bother us at all, although it may be a negative for some. You are the last site though, so only have the potential for neighbors on one side… The beach is an easy walk as well. I would stay at this campground again for sure, as it was beautiful and well-maintained. I would definitely consider this site again too.

So glad Loon Lake campground is finally reopened for 7 days a week camping. We look forward to the return of potable water, but even if this never happens it’s such a magical place that we will continue to come back for as long as we can.
We love that there is no cell service (okay, the tweens and teens didn’t love this, but the rest of us did!)
