Very nice and well maintained campground as a whole, however would be alot better with a working water system and some kind of wood chips around the playground for the kids.

There is no monitoring of how many people are occupying a campsite. When I arrived at my site in Tent Meadow the site next to me had 2 tents set up and 7 people (3 adults, 4 kids). Later that day another family arrived to join them, adding 2 more adults and 2 kids, plus their tent. To make room they moved one of the other tents (the kids' tent) so it was only about 10 ft from my tent. They were all up until midnight with the kids playing with flashlights. The next day another 3 people & tent joined them, and they were all up until 1am. Those sites are supposed to be for 1 tent and 6 people and the park ranger frequently drove past Tent Meadow throughout the day, but was more concerned with stopping to use a leaf blower to clear parking pads.
The toilet blocks are cleaned by just hosing everything down, so make sure you dry the seat before you sit down in the morning. Not having working sinks was a great inconvenience, especially as there was no hand sanitizer.
The lake itself it really nice, and there are places to sit that are not in the middle of the beach chaos, but I don't recommend staying there on a weekend or holiday. The "paved" trail to the small waterfall is not well marked, but it is a pleasant walk.

There were geese droppings on beach in swim area. Glad I wasn't there to swim.

Watch for Loon Lake Recreation Site sign on OR-38 between mileposts 13 and 14.
Turn south onto Loon Lake Road, then travel 7 mi to the recreation site. When you come onto the Loon Lake Recreation Site sign on your left, the entrance is to the right, between the large boulders.

- Contact the entrance station for questions during the operating season, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Safety & rules
- Loon Lake Recreation Site is open from Memorial Day weekend until September 30th.
Pets
- Pets are allowed, must be leashed, and cannot enter the designated swim area.
Vehicles & parking
- Day Use area is open, but overnight parking is not allowed.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires are allowed in designated areas and propane is always permitted.
- Firewood is not available during the season due to limitations.

- Loon Lake Recreation Site does not provide RV hookups, dump station, or shower/laundry facilities.

- A Senior or Access Interagency Pass provides a discount on camping fees for single-capacity campsites.

- Potable water is available throughout the campground, but it's recommended to bring your own hand sanitizer and soap.
